Akiya Alexander was an athletic point guard who was a member of Lisa Stone's first recruiting class. She had the athleticism to play in the Big 10, but struggled to stay under control on the court. While she played more under control in her sophomore season, her decision making was always suspect. Alexander played an important off-court role on the team. She is the team clown and one of the most popular players with her teammates. Akiya was a player who would have been a decent back-up point guard in the Big 10. Unfortunately, she did not pay enough attention to her schoolwork and was declared academically ineligible for the second semester of her sophomore year. It's questionable whether or not she would have been able to regain her eligibility. She decided to transfer at the end of that year.
